Protect Those Jugs: Hepco Becker Crash Guards Hot

HepcoBecker

The best selling motorcycle for the legendary German company BMW is the R1200GS.  The GS sports an engine design that has been BMW’s mainstay for decades.  That classic engine design, called the flat-twin, places the cylinders out in the cooling air

However it also places them out in a fairly vulnerable position where a lay-down or a rogue rock can do serious damage. Most GS models come from the dealer with only small plastic guards that offer minimal cylinder head protection.

For serious protection, the German company Hepco Becker offers crash guards that feature both protection and convenience.   The guards bolt on to the GS frame at sturdy points and wrap around and under those vulnerable cylinder heads.  The guards are made from high-quality mild steel to absorb potential damage before the heads can be reached.

The convenience comes in the form of easy maintenance access.  Valve adjustments and oil changes can be performed with the bars in place. This is a huge advantage over some other crash bars that must be removed for these procedures.

The Hepco Becker bars retail for around $270 and are available in black or silver (which runs $15 more).
