Motorcycles to Gain Air Conditioning Comfort

The heat may be a few months away for most of us, but the heat solution is here now. Entrosys has created the first portable air conditioning motorcycle vest, which is now available for pre-sale. Order soon at www.entrosys.com to get 20% off of the list price. The list price, however, has yet to be determined.

The device consists of a compact air-conditioning unit that is installed onto the tail of your bike, an air delivery garment and a hose that connects the two. The unit will be able to provide both heat and air conditioning without the need for a compressor. This means that it can be run solely from your 12-volt battery.

But are people going to buy it? Sure, heating gear has become popular and it isn’t uncommon for a long distance rider to have a heated vest, gloves or pants. But air conditioning?

If you ask me, an air conditioning system for a motorcycle is just a few steps away from adding an extra set of wheel. But then again, I’m from Chicago where summer heat isn’t much of a problem.

What do you think? Will you buy one of these systems?

Bike Luggage that does the job

Bike Luggage that does the job

Mark Douglas
Staff Writer

Having the right luggage is essential for a long tour or even just for a quick ride out to the shops. When you make-do on a motorcycle, it will lead to many moments of frustration and lots of pain and aches from badly fitting packs.

Because of the number of miles I do on a bike on a daily basis, I spent a lot of time looking for the right gear. With Kriega, I have found the best kit anywhere in the world, without breaking the bank.

Serious Ear Protection

Mark Douglas
Staff Writer

I am constantly on the lookout for new and improved products/gadgets which will make my life more comfortable.

One of my biggest annoyances in life is foam ear plugs; they are uncomfortable, un-hygienic and basically useless. There is nothing worse than finding an old pair of dirty plugs that you forgot to throw in the trash hiding away in your pocket mutating into some kind of new life form.

So, when my brother offered to make me a pair of custom fit acoustically filtered ear defenders from Protect Hear, I jumped at the chance. He also offered to make me a set that would connect to my cell or ipod, however, I declined his offer because I like to hear my motorcycle when riding.

I have been using these defenders for over a year now and I cannot believe how I managed without them.

They basically cut out (attenuate) all white noise allowing you to hear what is going on around you. I have worn these at rock concerts, nightclubs and always on my bike and they make a huge difference. They are saving my hearing and protecting me from dangerous noise.

One of the key benefits is that they increase my riding time; I don't get so tired because of road noise when out doing long distances. I can hear other traffic around me and I don't get a pressure build-up in my head making me feel all groggy. They are also easily cleaned and at the moment are showing no signs of wear. Manufactured from soft silicone ,they are also very comfortable and stay in place when putting on your helmet.

They are not inexpensive to buy($200 approx), however, they have a lifetime of seven years and I worked out that buying foam plugs for that period of time would cost twice as much and do nothing to protect your hearing.

Roadgear Sport Tank Bag

The Roadgear Magnetic Sport Tank Bag: “da bag” is all you’ll ever need

Olaf Wolff
West Coast Content Editor

Before positioning Roadgear’s magnetic sport tank bag on my bike I first had to remove the existing bag – a bulbous, overly aerodynamically shaped number that I could never find enough crap to fill sufficiently.

After whittling down the contents to only those fundamentals I’d ever realistically need, it all fit into the sport tank bag, or da-bag, as I now refer to it, with gobs of room to spare.

Küryakyn Floorboard

The ease of heel/toe shifting with a Küryakyn Driver Floorboard Kit

Olaf Wolff
AllAboutBikes.com West Coast Editor

I’ve long recognized there was a place for floorboards and heel/toe shifting, that place being on cruisers, Harleys or metric. I have to admit though, I haven’t really seen myself as a floorboard kind of guy just yet, viewing it rather like playing doubles tennis, something I’ll do farther down the road when I can’t play singles competently any longer.

But, after recently installing a Küryakyn Driver Floorboard Kit on a new Honda GLS 1800 I have to declare these floorboards look completely organic on the GoldWing, dare I say, this kit actually completes the entire package, right down to matching the OEM passenger boards.

The new Driver Floorboard Kit includes a built-in heel-toe shifter and a brake lever and all components sport a top-notch chrome finish that rivals the OEM chrome.  Küryakyn has been producing high-quality accessories for Harleys and metric cruisers for about 10 years, this new kit for the GLS 1800 is the latest addition to their line – and it’s a dandy. It took me longer to clear a spot in my garage, position my tool box and dial in a radio station then it took to complete the actual assembly.

Tire Gauges

Hi-Tec Digital Tire Gauges

By Olaf Wolff Sr. Staff Writer

Failing to check your tires consistently is akin to spending a wheelbarrow full of rubles on a shiny new brain-bucket and then wearing a t-shirt and sneakers to ride – both are so very wrong! Few things are iffier then setting up for a turn, or braking hard, with squishy, under-inflated, tires. A grade-A tire gauge is thus one of the best investments in safety gear you can make, and both these ROADGEAR digital gauges graduated Cum Laude.
