Every once in a while, someone comes up with an idea that makes you wish you’d thought of it. That’s the case with the brand new Sidemount Luggage from The Cycle Guys. The Anaheim, CA based company has come up with side luggage that uses the passenger peg bracket as the only mounting point.
The bags’ mount is more than clever. The rocking rotational 360 degree mounting system allows full adjustability to clear all signals and exhaust components. The bag resides about 2” from the motorcycle’s bodywork. The standard load is 10 pounds per bag. For heavier loads a supplemental strap is included.
The company claims that once the passenger foot pegs are removed, the SLS hardware mounts to your bike in about 3 minutes. The bags can accommodate a full-face helmet when expanded and will keep smaller items organized with internal netting. The bags are rugged and waterproof.
There are applications for most modern Japanese and European sport-bikes. This may just be the ideal luggage option for sport-bike riders who don’t want ugly brackets on their sleek rides. The complete system retails for just under $300.
